Cubs Bats Stay Hot – Sweep Braves
The Chicago Cubs won their eight straight road game tonight. This was the first time they reached this milestone since 1945 (last year the Cubs went to the dance) when they won twelve in a row on the road.
The Chicago Cubs swept the season series with the Atlanta Braves with their win tonight. This was the first time the Cubs achieved this feat…EVER.
The Chicago Cubs finally put a little more distance between them and Milwaukee today because the Brewers proved they were human…they LOST.
Aramis Ramirez left the game in the fifth inning after a head first slide (safe) into home plate. They are calling it a bruised hip. The prognosis is unknown.
The bats stayed hot tonight and they were needed because the Cubs pitchers proved they were human also…they gave up seven runs.
We go down south to battle the fish tomorrow and we’ve had some trouble with them this season as well as the last few seasons. But I have to say the Cubs are looking better than they have all year so it will be an interesting series to watch.
My gut…Next Century Is Here!
Cubs Double W’s
With yesterday’s game postpone due to rain, the Cubs were slated for a rare double header, and with that, the Cubs did nothing but out scored the Braves 18-2. They won the first game 10-2 behind my least favorite starter, Jason Marquis, and then came out three hours later and finally gave Rich Harden the run support he deserves by beating the Braves 8-0.
Now if you look at the Cubs since the Milwaukee series, they have gone 8-3. You would think they would have put a little more distance between them and the team chasing them. Nope, the Milwaukee Brewers are on fire! Since their series against the Cubs they have gone 9-2 gaining a game on our Cubbies. Tonight they have the unbeatable Sabathia on the mound. But the Padres are putting out the, I’m no bum with a 2.68 ERA, Jake Peavy starting, and the game is in San Diego. It should be a good one – Go Padres.
As a side note, when Jim Edmonds was picked up by the Cubs I wasn’t one of those guys pissing and moaning that he was a Cardinal and always would be a Cardinal. But I was saying that he was getting too old and slow to be playing center field. Hmmmm…..is there anything this guy can’t catch? I’m writing with my foot in my mouth. That’s just what happens when Next Century Is Here.
