Cubs Have No Bats

Short and sweet:

Harden pitches great AGAIN, gets a no decision.

He gets no run support.

Marshall comes in and pitches well.

We can’t hit.

Don’t expect the Brewers to loose two in a row against the Astros.

Tie for first.

DeRosa was out at first.

Maybe Lou loosing his mind will get these bats swinging.

It seems like forever ago since the Cubs were playing good baseball.

I’m really starting to get pissed off.

Cubs – I Don’t Know What Happened

I watched the game and still can’t believe what I saw.  We were up 7-2 going into the 9th inning and Marmol completely feel apart.  I mean he just looked terrible; even after the pitch was tossed and hit he was running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off.  What a mess, that half inning was the worst I’ve seen all year.  In fact I’m typing and I just realized that I haven’t even mentioned Harden’s name.

Harden was everything we expected and the sad part is he pitched well enough to get a win and all he got was a no decision.  Harden left the game up 7-0 and the bullpen (Marmol) just blew it.

But, no matter how ugly it got we won and that was big because tomorrow we face Lincecum. We have Dempster and he’s been pitching well, so let’s see what happens.

Big Z Smokes But Wood Is Needed For Close

Has Zambrano looked this good all year? It would be hard to
point to a game that would make the answer to this question yes.  With
only his second start off the D.L., Big Z goes eight innings giving up one hit
(a long ball); five K’s and no walks. He looked more confident than I’ve
seen him all year.  Nothing like getting another ace on the staff to get
the competitive juices flowing; at least that’s one man’s opinion.  Of
course, no fault of Zambrano’s, this game became a little closer than I would
have liked.

After retiring the first two batters, Marmol gives up an infield hit and two
walks and the bags are loaded.  Enter Wood and game is over.

This game epitomized the makeup of this year’s Cub team; solid starting
pitching, big bats and a good finish (minus the Marmol blip) by the pen.

Speaking of great pitching it was just announced that Harden
will start Saturday against San Francisco.

Brewers Smug with C.C. – Cubs Trump with Harden

Yesterday the Brewers fans were taunting their southern rivals after they dealt for Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia.  But it didn’t take long for the Chicago Cubs to answer with just as an impressive deal. The Cubs got Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin from Oakland for Matt Murton, Eric Patternson, Sean Gallagher, and Minor Leaguer Josh Donaldson. Harden is sporting a 2.34 ERA in 13 starts while Gaudin has a respectable 3.59 in 26 appearances.  Without a doubt, as long as Harden stays healthy, the Cubs have strengthen their starting rotation and filled the hole made by the disappointing performance of Rich Hill this year.

If anybody was questioning the Cubs Organization’s intention to go all the way this year, I would say those concerns have been put to rest with this deal.  The Cubs were deep in outfield talent and weak in starting pitching.  This deal pulled from their strength and fed their weakness. This move should send a resounding message to the players, fans and Major League Baseball that the Chicago Cubs are serious about making a run at the World Series this year.

Trust me…Next Century Is Here – The Century of the Cubs!
